We are in rehearsals now for our Los Angeles Philharmonic tour project, The Gospel According to the Other Mary by John Adams, staged by Peter Sellars and conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. The show is sold out in Los Angeles the first weekend in March, then will travel to London, Paris, Lucerne, and New York. Here is a review of the work's premiere in Los Angeles last June. Needless to say, we are gearing up for the musical adventure of a lifetime!
This summer, the Adams piece will travel in concert form to the Ravinia Festival in Chicago. Also as part of the Ravinia festival, I am honored to reprise David Lang's modern masterwork the little match girl passion with our same quartet that gave the West Coast premiere in winter of 2011. Here is a review of that performance. A happy reunion, to be sure.
