KUSC has started a webcast partnership with Los Angeles Master Chorale (Sundays at 4pm through January), one of the main companies I sing with, which can be accessed through the following link:
Next week's concert (Jan 2 Sunday 4pm) will be J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion, in which I am a featured alto soloist. Streaming of each week's concert is available a week after the webcast.
For those in the Los Angeles area, I will be a mezzo soloist in David Lang's "The Little Match Girl Passion," a setting of Andersen's 1845 short story which is based loosely on Bach's St. Matthew Passion and was the 2008 Pulitzer Prize winner in composition. Exciting that the composer will be attending our performance! January 22-23 2011, Link: http://jacarandamusic.org/
Finally, a Los Angeles Opera DVD release of Walter Branufels' The Birds (after the Aristophanes classical play) was recently released in which I have a small solo credit. This opera was produced as part of Artistic Director James Conlon's Recovered Voices project, dedicated to producing operas forgotten by circumstances surrounding oppressed WWII-era Jewish composers. I was surprised with a copy of it in the mail, and I highly recommend it! Order link
Wishing everyone a happy holiday season and blest 2011.
